Description

A self-contained consolidometer used to conduct expansion tests on cured soil specimens. After being compacted in a stainless steel ring, the specimen is placed in the consolidometer with air-dried porous stones, and loaded with a stainless steel weight. The specimen is allowed to consolidate for 10 minutes after which it is immersed in distilled water for up to 24 hours. During this time, the sample height is recorded for determining maximum swell.
Included with the unit are an anodized aluminum base and collar, stainless steel specimen ring, 12.6lb.(5.7kg)loading weight, and 2 porous stones. A dial indicator is also needed for the test but this is offered as a separate accessory.
